Effective Golf Training
Players love golf for many reasons: time with friends, with family and business associates, the challenge, the aesthetics of being on a beautiful golf course.
There is a thrill when you hit the ball well. Learning how to do that, however, can be frustrating.
When you’re learning golf or trying to improve your game you might find:
- It’s difficult to be consistent. Some days you do really well, and other days when you want to perform you can’t and you can’t put your finger on why. Or some shots are great and some are not so hot.
- You know in your mind what you’re supposed to do, but when you do it, it doesn’t come out right;
- It takes a long time to improve;
- What seems like a simple game is in reality very complex;
- You can do something on the driving range, but on the golf course it doesn’t come out the same;
- Your body doesn’t do what your mind is telling it to do;
- You can’t figure out what you’re doing wrong;
- The short game does you in.
There’s going to be a book that will change all that. Ingrid Gudenas and Laird Small are currently writing a book: How to Learn Golf. This book will enable you to learn golf more rapidly and more easily whether or not you are working with an instructor. This book is intended to address both learning how to play golf and debugging the game when needed.
How did this book start?
Ingrid has been in the field of training for 33 years. She developed the proprietary 100% Proficiency® training performance system for corporations and has delivered this training in 28 countries. 100% Proficiency can literally be used to teach anything. No matter where Ingrid traveled, executives asked her, “Why don’t you have 100% Proficiency training for GOLF?” One Vice President even said he would quit his job and come work for her for free if he could be a part of it.
This inspired Ingrid to meet Laird and discuss the extremely broad topic of golf instruction. Laird was intrigued that there was actually a method by which you could get any student to a full 100% Proficiency, and since he is dedicated to offering his students the very best, he learned the 100% Proficiency teaching method himself.
Laird has been using 100% Proficiency techniques since 2002 and has seen them make a big impact on his students’ ability to rapidly improve. He says, “The information on how to hit the ball is out there – but how do you learn it?
“What Ingrid and I are writing about in our book are some of the most important concepts I have come across in my teaching, that have made the biggest difference in the lives of my students. I feel that these concepts will be extremely important for you to take a look at.
“The purpose of this book is to give you the feeling of ‘I can do this!’ – ‘I can learn anything.’ People are really hard on themselves. I’ve seen a lot of people give up – I’ve never seen anyone who needed to.
“What is in this book about learning has far reaching applications to life, children, school – it’s not just about learning golf. This book can even help you help your children and grandchildren.”
– Laird Small
This book is intended for golfers at every level of the game, from novice to advanced. It will teach you how to learn the game and clear any confusions or problem areas in your game, which will help you to:
- Acquire consistency;
- Control your distance and direction;
- Produce more distance;
- Pre-plan a shot and have it come out the way you intended.
Golf can be challenging to learn. Even experienced golfers can have a difficult time de-bugging some aspect of their game.
We’re hearing from a lot of golfers. If you have a story about learning golf or any ideas on the subject you’d like to share, we’d be very interested in hearing about them – just send an email with the story or your thoughts and let us know whether it’s okay to use it in the book.
